Sustainability

We respect the resource we work with, using smarter milling practices that reduce waste and support long term supply.

Using More of Every Log

Sustainability starts in the forest, where our sister company, D&M Logging Inc. harvests timber based on best practices long‑term timber management. Foothills Lumber then maximizes the value of every fiber per log—producing ties, cants, and pallet lumber while ensuring that no usable fiber goes to waste. Remaining chips, dust, bark, and other byproducts become essential inputs for our parent company, Ironwood Carbon Solutions Inc., where Foothills’ by-products are transformed into biochar, silt sleeves, mulch, and renewable energy. Together, our three companies create a closed‑loop system that uses every fiber of every log which strengthens the sustainability of the entire supply chain.

Practical Sustainability in Daily Operations

Our approach is not about trends or marketing language. It is about managing our timber resources responsibly because our wood products depend on long-term resources and sustainability. Every step in our process focuses on yield, quality and selling byproducts into productive uses. From lumber manufacturing to byproduct sales, we aim to minimize landfill waste and keep materials moving into useful supply chains that serve construction, agriculture, and landscaping markets.
